The Rocky Horror Picture Show Official Fan Club
The Rocky Horror Picture Show Official Fan Club is the officially licensed organization by 20th Century-Fox for Rocky Horror fans.
Based in the U.S., the Official Fan Club has been in existence since 1977, with Sal Piro serving as the President. Originally known as The Rocky Horror Fan Club, the fan club was started by a group of enthusiastic fans from New York's first theater to play The Rocky Horror Picture Show, the Waverly Theater.
In the early years, the Fan Club had a newsletter called The Transylvanian, which included contributions from various members. Initially self contained, Fox officially sanctioned the club after the 10th anniversary in recognition of its importance to the Rocky Horror community.
Members who joined received an individually numbered membership card, a custom membership badge, and updates on Rocky Horror happenings. Official Fan Club representatives also received an additional badge.
As time went on, the cards became available online for no charge, though each one is numbered 4711 while previously they had been numbered sequentially.
