Peter Hinwood

Peter Hinwood is a retired English actor and model, and antique dealer. He played Rocky Horror (A Creation) in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Born on May 17, 1946 in Bromley, Surrey, Kent as Peter Wylie Hinwood, Hinwood became a model at English Boy Ltd. while living in Chelsea in 1967. At 6’ 1” and working out 3 times a week, his muscular physique helped him become an in-demand male model, making 5,000 pounds a year (about $8 to $12 thousand dollars).

Chosen to appear as Fran N Furter’s Creation in The Rocky Horror Picture Show for his looks, HInwood had a hard time with the singing, and subsequently, his voice was dubbed (mostly) by Trevor White in the film and on the soundtrack album. He had few film roles, though continued modeling through the late 1970s. In 1976, Hinwood had a small part in the film Sebastiane, along with Rocky Horror cast-mate, Nell Campbell.

Never comfortable with acting, Hinwood retired from the limelight in and formed an antique business, Peter Hinwood Limited, in September of 1978. He is now a successful antique shop owner and art dealer. In the late 1990s, his gallery appeared in House & Garden magazine, illustrated with a number of Islamic artworks, as well as a very large plasterwork figured relief from Elizabethan England.

His most notable antique sale came in 1991, when he sold his gold-dyed kid-leather briefs from Rocky Horror at auction for $1,000 to the Orlando Hard Rock Hotel.
