Jane Royle

Makeup artist, Jane Royal (10/20/32-12/13/10) was born Irene Jane Buchan Shortt in London, England. She spent seven years with her parents in India, where her father helped to build the country's railway system. She returned to London, and upon graduating school On leaving, she worked as a waitress in a local restaurant and acted with the town's youth drama group. After a few stage roles, she met and in 1953 married actor Derek Royle, Ayear after her first child was born, Royle trained as a makeup artist and found regular work at ATV, most notably between 1965 and 1969 with Diana Rigg and Linda Thorson during their time in The Avengers. In 1975, she became an assistant makeup artist on The Rocky Horror Picture Show, after which she worked almost exclusively in film. In 1984, was nominated for a Bafta best make-up artist award for her work as make-up supervisor on the horror film The Company of Wolves. Royal is probably best known for her work in the first three Harry Potter films.
