The First Rocky Horror Costume Contest was held at The Roxy Theatre on October 31, 1974. A newspaper advert ran in the Los Angeles Times announcing the Halloween costume contest as part of the Halloween festivities at the Rocky Horror Show, then in its 7th month at the Sunset Strip theater.
