Patricia Quinn as The Usherette - Original London Cast - 1973
Jamie Donnelly as Trixie - Original Roxy Cast - 1974

The Usherette is a character originated by Patricia Quinn in the original 1973 London Cast of The Rocky Horror Show. The Usherette sings the opening number from the show, "Science Fiction, Double Feature", and the closing number "Science Fiction, Double Feature (Reprise)". The script is vague in regards to this character, referring to her as Magenta (as Usherette). The tray she carried as the Usherette contains a prop with the words "Strawberry Time", which the cast then expanded to call her "Miss Strawberry Time", however the character is not referred to, as such, in the musical. It was not until the show opened in the US in 1974 at the Roxy Theatre, as played by Jamie Donnelly, that she was first known as Trixie, having the name written across the front of the tray. The Usherette is a personification of the The Lips singing "Science Fiction, Double Feature" during the opening credits of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and her performance is open to interpretation. The Usherette was featured on film for the first time in The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do the Time Warp Again.
