Dubbed the nick name Sweet Pea when at the first cast rehearsal of Denton High Drama Club and before it started several members were getting coffee and pop at a local convenience store.  After getting their drinks Michael remarked how the clerk addressed each of them with the affectionate name 'Sweet Pea' until it was his turn at the cash register where instead she addressed him as, 'you need to spend more than $5 to use a debit card', while telling this story Sammy Scrivener blew ice coffee out her nose and Jamie Arnold-Page nick named him 'Sweet Pea'.

Cast History

Michael Baribeau born 1964 employed at a bank call center Grand Rapids Michigan. Active in small community theater. Introduced to RHPS back in high school in the 1980's Michael says it's actually nostalgic for him and that it's a great party and escapism like Mardi Gras, plus you get to meet some of the most wonderful people in the world. In the shadow cast usually playing the character Brad but working on his bingo card of characters played which, to date, include Brad, Janet, Crim, and show MC as well as Assistant Director for The Denton High Drama Club at Harbor Cinema in Muskegon MI. and is an alumni for The Full Rocky at the monthly late night showing Last Call at Celebration Cinema North and IMAX.

Dubbed the nick name Sweet Pea when at the first cast rehearsal of Denton High Drama Club and before it started several members were getting coffee and pop at a local convenience store. The clerked referred to each customer as the affectionate name 'sweet pea' but when Michael stepped up to the counter she instead addressed him as, 'you need to spend more than $5 to use a debit card', this made Sammy Scrivener blow ice coffee out her nose and Jamie Arnold-Page nick named him Sweet Pea.

It appealed to him on several levels. The movie by its self is a silly campy musical parody of B-rated scifi movies although with endearing acting like from the SNL/monty-python era. But the real fun is watching it in a theater with 'audience participation' callbacks. Now all these years later more local shadow cast are forming, being able to watch the show more often, learn the audience participation lines and be able to interact like everyone else and with everyone else. An RHPS shadow cast and audience participation embrace vulgarity and the outrageous, bucking the establishment and it's hypocrisy. The audience members dress in cosplay of the movie characters, one of the hallmark outfits being dark corsets, heels, and fishnet stockings, for all sexes, and also for those who want to dress in drag and be in a friendly environment. The lead character is Dr. Frank-N-Furter (a parody of Dr. Frankenstein) 'just a Sweet Transvestite from Transsexual Transylvania'. Frank is the charismatic sweet transvestite while also being a murderous mad scientist that we love to watch turn the establishment on its head as 'queen' of the rebels. Brad and Janet represent the norms trying to fit in and the hypocrisy being rebelled against. It's all just good dirty fun but for tamer tastes try a showing without the shadow cast. As for how it used to be there's a YouTube recording of Say It! The Rocky Horror Picture Show Audience Participation Album. Original Release Date: September 26, 1975 that was also pretty racy... enjoy!
