Gainesville Cast

The Original Gainesville Cast, from the University of Florida, began performing in mid-1978. As they helped to bring good revenues into the local theater, the Royal Park Cinema, the manager would open up to the cast on early Saturday and Sunday mornings for private screenings, so that they were able to learn how to perfectly mimic the movement on-screen. Their performances were extremely well received, and they began traveling and performing at a variety of theaters in the south-eastern portion of the United States.

During their travels, they ran into Richard O'Brien, who actually joined them at a midnight screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The cast remained friendly with O'Brien, touching base with him on a number of occasions when he was visiting the US.

In 1979, they were asked to be the performing cast for the 2nd Anniversary celebration of the Grove Art Cinema in Miami, where both O'Brien and Nell Campbell were in attendance and happily mingling with fans.
