Fran Fullenwider as a Transylvanian

Fran Fullenwider (November 16, 1945 – May 12, 1994) was an American actress who appeared as a Transylvanian in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Born in Harlingen, Texas, Fullenwider moved to the UK as a young girl, and reportedly performed horse riding stunts in films. Later, she studied at the New York University film school and eventually graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Plus-sized Fran was signed to the U.G.L.Y. agency as a model after she unsuccessfully attempted to get a job there as a secretary (the story is she was literally too big for the small office she'd have worked in). Since The U.G.L.Y. Agency was a place that specialized in casting unusual looking people, Fran was a good fit for them as a model, and she soon began getting parts through them. She, along with several other Tranylvanians, was chosen via her head-shot by director Jim Sharman to be in The Rocky Horror Picture Show after an audition at the Royal Court Theater. In addition to several film and television roles, the 300 lb Fullenwider became a successful model in Italy, where she also became a good friend to director Frederico Fellini. Fullenwider also participated in one of the first Miss Alternative World pageants, using the stage name Miss Southern Comfort.

In the 1978, a news story about an escaped hippo from Lion Country Safari earned Transylvanian Fran the now defunct call-back/nickname “Bubbles.”

Fran Fullenwider died of cardiac arrest at the age of 51.
