The New Yorker at 88th and Broadway in Manhattan was part of the Walter Read Chain, a sister theater to the [[Waverly Theater]] . It was one of [[The First 30 US Theaters]] to play ''[[The Rocky Horror Picture Show]]'' as an ongoing, midnight-only movie beginning in July of 1976. In 1979, the theater was twinned.
The New Yorker also hosted an ongoing run of Shock Treatment after its opening in late 1981.
