The Reggae-flavored original ''Working on My Tan'' (reminiscent of ''I Will'' from [[Read My Lips]]) was released as a single, but failed to get much notice. Los Angeles New Wave radio station KROQ chose to play the Lovin' Spoonful cover ''Summer in the City'', to some local success. A second single, the original ballad and title-track, ''Simplicity,'' was also released in 1981. The album managed to bubble under the Hot 100, peaking at #112 on the US LP charts.
